Skating Registration
Registration for this years beginner skating program is this Thursday at 6:30pm at the Allen and Jean Millar Centre. Can-Skate and Learn to Skate classes are aimed at kids just learning how to skate. The 2010 Star Skate program begins September 12th which is for the more advanced skaters. The Can-Skate and Learn to Skate pre-school program runs from November 3rd to January 26th. Barrhead Police Report
Barrhead RCMP responded to complaints of domestic violence early last week. Reports of a firearm accompanied the complaint. Police executed a search warrant on a residence in the Goose Lake area and several unregistered long guns were seized. The suspect was arrested later the same week and turned in three more registered long guns. A 26 year old male faces several charges including Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Driving, and Uttering Threats. The unnamed man is scheduled to appear in court on September 28. Police continue to investigate.
Credit Card Holders Warned
If credit card holders get into trouble using their plastic, they can't say they weren't warned. The Federal Government has legislated that credit companies post information on users bills regarding the length of time to pay-off balances and interest rate changes. Yellowhead MP Rob Merrifield says the changes are meant to help people fully understand their credit. Another change is that users now have a minimum of 21-days interest free on new purchases if the balance is payed for the month.
