JORDAN REIN - The Rig Weekday Mornings

THE RIG SURVEY

Describe your home town?

I grew up in Eckville, Alberta; a small town just west of Red Deer. Words to describe Eckville; friendly, close knit, REDNECK.

What do you like best about your job?

Simply getting the chance to be on air every week day morning, and being in the middle of what's happening; free food is good too!

Who is your hero or role model?

I have several role models in this radio biz; however my #1 hero is Dwight Schrute, form "The Office." Whenever I'm about to do something, I think, "Would an idiot do that?" and if they would, I DO NOT do that thing - Dwight.

Favorite Food?

The free food that was previously mentioned is good...also, LASAGNA!

Describe the perfect day?

Spending a hot summer's day hanging out on the beach, then spending the evening relaxing with good food and friends. If you mix in the fair and a good concert, it's even better.

Interesting work history?

I started at a Country radio station - YIKES!...glad to be out of that.

Anything else you would like to add?

I love music, Fender-Jazz Basses, actress Amanda Bynes, and the Edmonton Oilers. Now, if someone could put those four things together... Oh yeah - I love working and living in Whitecourt; it's an exciting time to be alive.

THE RIG SURVEY

Describe your home town?

Fergus, Ontario...Where do I begin? It's a small Scottish town in Southern Ontario, famous for the truck show and Highland Games. From time to time, you will see men walking around town in kilts wondering when the caber toss competition starts.

What do you like best about your job?

I'm a music guy, so the music for sure is number 1. I also enjoy bringing my knowledge and information about the artists we play to the masses who are listening. I guess informing our listeners is what i enjoy best outside the music.

Who is your hero or role model?

Bob Dylan and Dr.Hunter S. Thompson; both madmen of the media merry-go-round.

Favorite Food?

KD and HAWT DAWGZ

Describe the perfect day.

Any day when it's possible to sleep in and rock out in my underwear.

Interesting work history?
I once worked at a haunted hotel. It was kinda cool, but freaky at the same time; especially when I was there alone. Sometimes I would walk by the dining room and everything was normal. When I walked by the same dining room 10 mins later all the chairs had been pulled out. YIKES!!!!

Advice
The world meets nobody halfway, if you want something you have to grab it !!!

Describe your home town?
I was born/raised in Verdun, QC, a blue collar suburb of Montreal, population about 6 times that of Whitecourt. Between October and May, the city is all about Canadiens hockey. The summer months get very humid , but with a good amount of awesome thunderstorms to light up the night sky! Being so close to Montreal though, the party is just a quick bus/train ride away.

Favorite part about your job?
Aside from being able to wake up after lunch, roll in to the office 2 hours before everyone is ready to go home for the day, and NOT worry about getting canned for it? I guess getting a regular paycheck to do something I’ve always had a passion for would be the favorite part. I love playing music, taking calls from interesting people, and just hanging out are easily the best parts of this job, if you can even call it a job! Most people I know would be paying my boss to do this, but don’t tell him that! Lol

Why Radio?
That’s easy. I used to pretend I was in the booth with the announcers calling the hockey games when I was a kid in Montreal. I’ve had a love for radio my entire life, and finally got myself through school to realize this dream of mine. My dad told me life would be a lot easier if I found a job where I didn’t feel like I was really working. Well, he was right!

Who is your Role Model/Hero?
Seeing as alot of people I know LOVE to see me get all riled up about something(its pretty easy to be honest, just diss Metallica, or the Canadiens) I have always looked up to/modelled myself after stand up comedians like George Carlin, Lewis Black, John Pinette, and Derek Edwards. They get paid to vent their frustrations in public, but its giving other ppl a good laugh, so its kinda healthy for everyone involved!

Favorite Food?
Steak w/loaded baked potato, chicken wings, pizza, ribs, bacon & eggs, bacon anything really, perogies & sausages, Irish stew, and my grandmothers peanut butter squares(drool) Now I’m hungry, great! Oh, and smoked meat, steamed hot dogs, and poutine! God bless Montreal cuisine!

Describe the perfect day?
Well, I tend to sleep most of my days away, so I'll describe my perfect night, ok?Any night the Canadiens win, pretty much(Go Habs Go). That or a night in Vegas, Dublin, or Montreal would define a truly great night for me. Also, any night that I get to see Metallica or AC/DC in concert, with VIP access of course! Killer!!

Work history?
I’ve been through a couple different career changes. I’ve done warehouse receiving, retail work, even telemarketing (groan) all in BC. I am now doing what I love, working evenings and weekends at the Rig, playing some kick ass music and hanging out with awesome people in a very relaxed office.

Hobbies?
Love to listen to music on a daily basis, at home, at work, or on my MiniDisc player(yes I still own one and it rocks). I really enjoy going for walks/drives and traveling too. I try to never miss an episode of Family Guy or Rescue Me, whenever those shows are on. Of course I also love watching my beloved Habs try to capture their 25th Stanley Cup(2010 could be the year!). Oh and Notre Dame college football. Go Irish!

Pet Peeves?
One day I will perform a stand up comedy act which will contain as many pet peeves as I can think of. I have thousands, literally. Like people who are in front of me in a mall, and they walk SUPER slow and think no one else is in the place but them. Grr. Needless to say, I tend to move around a lot. Also, if I get the feeling someone isn’t telling me the truth, I’m gone.
